Stag Beetle Larva Pendant

£85.00

Stag Beetle larva pendant, made from recycled silver, on an 18'' silver snake chain.

This piece is part of METAMORPHOSIS, a collection of solid silver objects depicting the Stag Beetle in the pupal, larval and imago (adult) stage of the lifecycle. Stag beetles spend most of their lives underground as larvae, usually between 3-5 years, after which they build a large cocoon in the soil, pupate and finally metamorphose into an adult.

These creations are the product of a unique collaboration between jeweller silversmith Toby Cotterill, digital sculptor Ian Watkins, and The Royal Entomological Society.

The designs are digitally created and 3D printed, cast from recycled silver in the UK, hand finished and hallmarked. They are available in a range of pendants, pins and keyrings, with £10 from each sale being donated to the Royal Entomological Society, who do amazing work supporting the understanding and development of insect science.
